How it works

Simple, gentle and entirely stress-free — even for the tiniest hands. Here's exactly what to expect from first enquiry to finished keepsake.

1

Get in touch & book

Fill in our simple booking form with a few details — the type of casting you're interested in, your baby's age (or due date if you're booking ahead), and your preferred timeframe. There's no pressure and no commitment at this stage, just a friendly conversation about what you'd like.

Booking ahead? Absolutely — many families book during pregnancy so everything is ready for when baby arrives. Newborns are the most popular age as their tiny details are simply irreplaceable, but we can create beautiful castings at any age.
2

We confirm & chat through options

Once we've received your enquiry, we'll be in touch — usually within a few hours — to confirm your appointment date and time, and have a chat about what you'd like. We'll discuss the type of casting (a hand, a foot, or both, siblings together and so on) so everything is ready for your session. To secure your appointment, a booking fee is required at this stage with the remaining balance payable on the day of your session. Every piece is completely bespoke and we'll go through all the finishing options when you visit the studio.

What's included: every price covers your bespoke frame, an airbrushed finish and an engraved plaque as standard — no hidden extras to worry about.

Your session at the studio

Sessions take place at my home studio in Dunfermline. It's relaxed, welcoming and entirely at your pace — especially important with little ones. We allow plenty of time so there's never any rush. The actual casting itself takes just a few moments per hand or foot.

The casting material we use is called alginate — the very same non-toxic, skin-safe material used by dentists and medical professionals. It sets gently in seconds, causes no discomfort whatsoever, and is completely safe for newborns and sensitive skin. We take the impression first, then create the plaster cast from that.
On the day: Feed baby just before you come so they're settled and sleepy — newborns are easiest when drowsy. Bring a change of clothes and don't worry about anything else; we'll guide you through everything.
4

Handcrafting your keepsake

After your session, the real craft begins. Each piece is individually finished by hand in my studio — sanded, painted, mounted and personalised to your exact specifications. No two pieces are ever the same, and every one receives the same care I'd give my own family's memories.

Finishing options — at your session you'll be able to see all the frame styles, colour samples and personalisation options in person. We'll go through everything together so you can see exactly what suits you before making any decisions.
5

Collection & delivery

When your finished keepsake is ready, we'll be in touch to let you know. Collection is from our Dunfermline studio at a time that suits you — we look forward to seeing your reaction when you see it for the first time!
